The Dire State Of Volkswagen...What Happened?
Volkswagen is one of the most iconic car brands in the entire world owning brands like Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, and even Bugatti at one point. This made them the largest car maker in the world at several points, but more recently, Volkswagen has lost their way. First of all, they had that massive emission scandal that destroyed consumer trust and brand credibility. Even putting that aside though, Volkswagen has had a very difficult time transitioning to electric vehicles. Their former CEO, Herbert Diess was a massive fan of Tesla and tried to push Volkswagen to embark on an all-out push to switch to electric. Not all of Volkswagen’s board members were enthusiastic about this p...

Amazon's "AI". The Truth.
Просмотров 61 тыс.23 часа назад
Recently, Amazon’s “Just Walk Out” technology has come under fire. It seems that Amazon’s AI is much more human than AI as they had over 1,000 workers in India manually verify the vast majority of “Just Walk Out” checkouts. This has really brought into question the viability of modern AI in general. Is it more hype than reality? Well, there are of course some use cases that have advanced extrem...

The Dire State Of Intel...What Happened?
Просмотров 182 тыс.День назад
Once upon a time, Intel was by far the strongest player in the semiconductor industry. In fact, the famous Moore’s Law was created by Intel’s founder and everyone was familiar with the Intel jingle. But, fast forward a few decades, and Intel is in more pathetic state than ever. One of the main reasons for this is that Intel became stagnant after conquering the consumer CPU market. They’re still...

Amazon's Unbearable Quality...
Просмотров 68 тыс.День назад
For quite some time now, most of Amazon has been filled up with a bunch of garbage. Usually, you’re paying markups of 80-90% because most of the cost is just going toward convenience and logistics. If you buy directly from suppliers through platforms like Alibaba, you’re usually able to find the same products for a mere fraction of the price. For years, consumers put up with this quality contro...
Airbnb Screwed Up The Housing Market…And Is Doing Better Than Ever

I’m sure you’re all familiar with the state of the current housing market. Home prices and rent are higher than ever and it seems like they’ll never come down despite high interest rates and increasing unemployment. One of the driving factors of this trend is none other than Airbnb which is quite ironic given that Airbnb was founded for the exact opposite reason. Airbnb was designed to help hos...
Was Toyota Right About EVs All Along?
Просмотров 270 тыс.14 дней назад
Despite all the hype we’ve seen with EVs over the past couple of years, one automaker that has refused to jump onto the trend is Toyota. They’ve consistently stuck with hybrid cars and even hydrogen cars, but they’re quite unwilling to jump over to fully electric vehicles. This is quite ironic given that Toyota was a pioneer of the electrification trend having launched the Prius way back in the...
The Unstoppable Rise Of Hisense (The Antithesis To TCL)

Over the past 10 years, TCL has taken the world by storm with their massive 100-inch TVs at mind-bendingly low prices. Hisense and TCL are both Chinese TV giants but the road to the top was completely different for either company. Hisense has been in the TV industry...

Toyota did the obv thing. Slow methodical integration is key. First do the bats, motor and plantform integration, then basic software, then adv software, then other stuff. You dont need to drop a FULL new prod. Tesla had to as they had no base to work off, ICE makers have the chance to bleed these things in at a lower price. win-win imo

No most indefinitely not tho im not against their business model of their policies i understand why but before i get lynched for defending it i also disagree with how they handle consumers as a whole cause those policies arent prepared for the everyday consumer they are for lawyers to read that in its self is anti consumer. I work in security which is the sector of life i dwell in majority of my every day life. the customer we provide a service too has to be first happy with the product we are providing or going to provide and the contingencies associated with it i think avoiding liability is a natural part of how you run a business to protect your bottom line but it doesnt make it right to have language that doesnt consider the everyday consumer. Sorry for going in a rant 😅

I think Samsung also has a lot of options for people, while Sony does have cheaper TVs, they don’t get anywhere near as Samsung and LG. There are no Sony edge lit TVs which are alot cheaper to make and more “esthetically” pleasing because they get thinner. So people like that thinness even though they aren’t good. I sell 85 inch TVs to people and they pay like 700 bucks. I also agree with the word of mouth. A lot of people come in saying “oh Samsung is better right” but Sonys processing power just beats a lot of Samsung and lg tvs.

Volkswagen used to offer a relatively premium, well-engineered and designed product at a mostly mainstream price. Think of the early 2000s Mk4 Golf and Jetta, B5/B6 Passat, etc. I think their downfall first started with Ferdinand Piech, who tried to push them upmarket with the flop Phaeton, Touareg, CC, etc, and dumped money into developing the Bugatti Veyron, the W8 and W12, and other costly passion projects (along with his successor Pischetsrieder, who he advised). Then Winterkorn stepped in and drove VW back downmarket in a failed attempt to capture more US sales - we got bland, forgettable and cheaply designed products which only made VW look like a bit player rather than an intentional niche brand here. Then Dieselgate and EV investing were the nail in the coffin. Now we’re stuck with an extremely aged Audi lineup and a pathetic presence for VW in the US along with fading relevance in Europe and China. Really sad as a euro car fan.

Hearing this makes it all the more interesting that they're investing into a Formula 1 team with Audi, in a sport that's notorious for costing you millions if you do it poorly and makes it embarassing if you're just racing at the back. They even once planned on entering two teams with Audi taking over Sauber and Porsche with Red Bull. Good thing the latter one didn't push through because looks like they have more immediate concerns to attend to.

Personally I used SEAT Cars since I got my license (Started with a Ibiza, then had multiple Leon's and one Cupra Formentor) My first 3 cars never had major problems. My current daily driver is now consistently at the dealership, to fix stuff that isn't working. VW group lost my trust and I will probably look into buying a Mazda or Toyota next.
